CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The Rise and Shine program, of Youth With a Mission, has as a main aim to restore the lives of children at high risk through christian principles established in each as an indespensible pillar as part of an integral educative process. Many of the families of these children we are looking for sponsors for, live in small rental rooms- commonly known as “cauldrons”, “ghettos” or simply “rooms” - in which it is common to find 7 to 12 people living per room, exposed to drug addiction, prostitution , delinquency, physical and mental abuse, malnutrition, amongst other things.

For children at high risk, to have access to hospital care or medical treatment when they are sick, instead of suffering in silence on dirty floors where they live would be a miracle.…to go to school with all of the necesary equipment, have three meals a day and have psycological support due to abuses that occur, would also be.

Whatever person or group of people can ensure that more needy children receive psycological help, schooling and treatment for social readaptation.

What does it consist of?

If you are interested in sponsoring a child at high risk you can do it by a monthly contribution of US$30 monthly with which we can address the following basic needs :

• Educational Assistance : This consists of doing scholastic levelling and reinforcement. Due to some of the childrens’ conditions and ages, they have never been schooled and need personalized attention to be able to overcome learning problems. Once they are capable, they are placed into formal schools in the community, taking on costs of school materials , uniforms,snacks, enrollment fees and school fees.
• Social Readaptation: Workshops are carried out with didactic materials to teach the children how to act in the community through establishing norms and limits related to it.
• Psycological Help: In a family atmosphere that the program offers the children, we try to model a functional family, working with the children in personalized sessions so that when the children are adults they don’t do to their children what has been done to them, so that history will not repeat.
• Food and clothing: During their stay with us we offer basic nutrition (breakfast, snacks, lunch) and hard wearing cloths.
• Medicine and complimentary services such as payment of notary applications, as many of the children have not been registered because of the cost involved in the process.
In the main building of the program all of the background detail files of the children we work with are found. Anyone who wants to join the sponsorship plan can have access to these to understand the conditions, family background and problems that the child they choose to sponsor faces. On being enrolled in this plan, the sponsor has the opportunity ‘If they want to”, to:
- Write to the child whenever they want to.
- Acompany the child in their process through calls, encouragements, and outings.
- Participate in the activities run by the foundation.
- Support with US$1 daily (US$30 monthly).
- Receive 5 reports a year from the project director, on how the child is progressing.
Use of the funds:
• 80% towards direct attention to the child: Education, health and nutrition, recreation, clothing, help for the child and their family.
• 20% for administrative costs: Helpers of the program, office equipment, Transport, and emergencies that may occur (Eg. Hospitalisation)
To join the plan, you only need to choose a child, fill in the form attached and start the monthly support payments.
In Colombia depositing or doing a transfer to the savings account No. 219-80041-4 of Banco de Occidente in the name of Confesión Juventud Con Una Misión or sending the same amount directly to the program.
The Banco de Occidente is part of Aval group. You can go to any of the banks in that group.(Banco de Bogota, Banco AV Villas, Banco Popular, Banco de occidente, Porvenir ) Ask for a deposit slip for the Aval group and write banco de occidente, and deposit it with the aforementioned details.

The legal constitución of the program can be verified by the RUT, Certificate of existance and legal representative of the program all can be made available for anyone interested. The child sponsorship payments are tax deductable, so the program is able to certificate them.
There is no risk, nor obligation... now or ever… because even though you make the descision to sponsor, we do not pressurize for anything. You can change or cancel your sponsorship whenever you need to, for any reason you may have.
